On April 16th is the silent day. The LGBT club members wont talk to anybody, and be silent for the entire day to support the people who are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender and who keep it from the wrold because they are scared of people making fun of them, or harassaing them.

Working for the Hatchet so far has been fun. I have learned things like interviewing, writting articles, and making dead lines in time. Althought this class isnt as easy as I thought it would have been, i have learned a lot from it. I enjoy and look forward to 6th period everyday.

I expect to do a lot better second semester and try to pass this class with atleast a B-. I took this class for many reasons, including it looking good on my transcript and me beening published in the school news paper, but i think all the hard work, stress and meetings with editors all pay off when you see the Hatchet in your hand or see other people reading it around the school. It is a wonderful feeling of reaching something togather as a class.

In the Hatchet i have had Simrundeep and Michela as my Editors and I enjoyed working with them both very much. I got to expereince how an newspaper would acutally runwith eiditors, wiriters and photographers. I was a lot of fun.

The posters that showcased great people in history who were LGBT were made by the GSA for the month of October to show LGBT awarness. However, it lacked interst of the students, many were busy in making outfits for Spirit week and Halloween. GSA wasnt able show much awarness of the month and lacked intrest of the students on campus.

Inverted pyramid and summary lead

In the articel “Lebanese to Israel: Hands off our hummus!” inverted pyramid style has been used by stating the most important facts first, and the least important towards the end of the articel. It answers all the Where, Who ,What , When and Why questions. It tells the readers about the food war going on with Israel and Lebanon because of hummus, a popular dip eaten in middle east, which lebenoese are trying to resister as a lebonese food becasue Israel is advertising it as theirs.

Ahhhhhh!!!!!!!! I have had some issues with my classes this year, but i am glad that most of it is setteled down now. I am excited about the senior year as well. Cant waite until Water World…..SUPER EXCITED…which reminds me that i have to still buy the stupid ticket….it isnt much ….butthen again I am not the one who is paying for it ; )

This is my first year taking journalism, and I am very excited. However I am a little nervous about talking this class because of the many responsibitlies it comes with, I am sure that running the school paper isnt an easy task and wont be as easy as talking an art class or P.E. but I know that the experence will be worth it. I hope to learn a lot about jornalism throught my senior year, but most importantly I hope I dont slack off. I am super excited for our first idssue to come out, and my articel to print. : D
